While it’s great to support all these Canadian chains, chances are there’s a locally owned restaurant near you that is much better than any of these. Support Canada of course, but supporting local independent businesses is even better.

A&W Canada has the best fast food breakfast

If you go in you can get a diner style sit down breakfast now. It’s nice to go for an early morning summer walk then stop in for some eggs on their outdoor seating.

They also have good coffee and hot chocolate. They’re pretty much the only fast food I buy these days.

Cora’s breakfast: “Chez Cora began […] in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is now a chain of more than 50 franchises in Quebec and 130 across Canada.”

TIL, The Keg, Swiss Chalet, and Harvey’s are all Canadian and owned by the same Canadian parent company.

Go to a local independent restaurant. Chain restaurants are a scourge on society.

I was inspired by a comment from @jownz@lemmy.world when I found out that Mr. Sub is a Canadian chain.

Turns out there are a ton of restaurants that I had no idea were also Canadian and I went down a rabbit hole and wanted to share!

East Side Mario’s is also Canadian! We also have A&W’s and Harvey’s for burgers! 😁

I always bring Purdy’s when traveling as treats for friends and family. So good!

I’m in Ottawa, so any old shawarma place is guaranteed to provide a delicious meal at a reasonable price. 10/10 hit up your local shawarma joint!

panago pizza is great, pretty good vegetarian options too imo. They have vegan options too, can’t comment on how good they are though

I’d love to support Panago more, but the location closest to me is always out of steak! It sucks because you never find that out until you’ve gone through the monumental task of preparing your whole order on their app.

If you are in BC I believe white spot is still Canadian. Started as a local BC restaurant and is now a fairly widespread restaurant in western Canada.

Anything local? Just avoid chains and you are probably safe.

Canadian Brewhouse is pretty good. I’ve been a couple times, they have good deals on specific foods on certain days (wings on Wednesdays, tacos on Tuesdays, etc). They’ve got locations in Ontario, BC, Alberta, and Manitoba I believe.
