        The official teaching is that it is not symbolic. They claim to be quite actually eating the flesh of Christ. Communion is a summoning ritual.

            That is the name for what I’m describing, no? Transubstantiation is the summoning of Christ’s blood and flesh by means of bread, wine and ritual. It’s a fancy word for a specific type of summoning.
