  • We use liters for soft drinks and liquor, but gallons for fuel, milk, and water. For recipes we use fluid ounces or cups since gallons are kind of a large for that.

It’s actually a mixed system, similar to the UK but with less metric in the mix.

I disagree that there is any way to do it. Ultimately, people don’t want you there and are unhappy enough that they’re willing to die rather than cooperate. It is simply too expensive in terms of man hours, lives, and money to keep a population under occupation like that. At the very least, you need to do as the colonial powers did and exploit a local division to deputize some of the locals to rule on your behalf.

  • But even in the Claudia instance I’d say no because it’s still just too gross. There’s just no getting past the body age thing. I guess I’d say Claudia could probably have a legal right to seek adult experiences (though she would only find sick weirdos), but Keiko and Princess Bubblegum should not.

I’d argue that a real person in Claudia’s situation shouldn’t be discriminated against for what is ultimately a physical abnormality. I see it as a more extreme version or “dwarves shouldn’t be allowed to have relations with larger people because they look vaugely like children.”

I’d also argue that any media which depicts someone in Claudia’s situation finding love is probably some creep trying to find an outlet for their fantasies.

  • Exactly, that’s why they’re still around. They still haven’t been used at their intended scale since before most working adults had left home.

If anyone else wants to feel old, MySpace is old enough to drink and the iPhone can vote. College graduates have never seen someone type on a t9.

The “large vault” you’re referring to is either old enough to predate the internet or full of safe deposit boxes for rent.

Even busy bank branches probably only need a vault the size of an armoire these days. People just don’t use much cash.
