A bit late to the party, but as the other comment said, its clearly because is a popular archtype and it hasn’t been reprinted. WotC is known for that kind of stuff, perhaps your firend could choose a different one thats mor on the range you all are okay with.
There is an Izzet Dragons precon that I really like, because it has a goad subtheme and makes for fun table dynamics.
As a final note, where I live you can’t find precons for less than 80€ due to taxes

When I learnt how to read English I started to get access to new currents of thought that are not common on Spanish (is that a latinsphere or Spanishsphere I wonder), at the same time I learnt how loud are US people on internet really.

Its been a while since we had this kind of changes. Im excited to test the new champ, it seems really cool!
I was looking forward for this announcement a lot. Also, new champ is the original Aphelios concept but executed better. Like, having control over which abilities to choose at any time is really cool.
I have never thought of this and now I miss it…
