  • The services themselves will probably be made to ask for verification and your devices will answer through the age verification app. Since custom mobile OSs (or desktop Linux) won’t provide hardware attestation, the app won’t work on them and the websites will treat you as underage. The types of services that require age verification aren’t specific, they can change based on EU decisions so eventually people not using “approved” OSs may be locked out of most of the internet.

  • I think if a book is captivating enough, the environment doesn’t matter too much. I do most of my reading in public transport, usually standing and reading on my phone. You can hold your phone in a way without slouching or your hand getting tired.

For books that are really demanding I may prefer reading at home, sitting on a chair or the bed. But I can’t read while lying down, it’s either super uncomfortable or I fall asleep. Physical books are nice when they’re small but I’ll still prefer the phone.

No notes or anything like that, maybe some underlining that I’ll forget to get back to afterwards.

  • Second hand clothes: thrift shops are a much better experience than regular clothes shops. Instead of getting the same 5 pairs of pants/shirts in slightly different colors and multiple sizes, you get a huge variety of styles and just have to find something that you like and fits well enough. I started buying jeans from thrift shops when high-rise pants got popular and EVERY other shop sold only high-rise jeans. Plus, if the clothes have been worn before you know they won’t desintegrate the first time you put them in the washer.

  • Yes, the ones you mentioned. At least these accounts and threads are not always deleted. It’s happened before on lemmy that multiple posts get made on the same topic by new accounts and then both the post and account get deleted. I remember similar around last year so it’s not new.

What I don’t get is why. This time some of the posts are actually interesting and generate discussions but the OP never interacts with any comments. What do they gain from this?
