I just want to say how much I love the book covers Iskra puts out there. I bought it because I’m interested in the material but I also bought How Paris Made the Revolution and the Revolution Made Paris because the cover art was so good. I also love their commitment to hardcovers.

Lots of great titles, Iskra is really doing the Lord’s work.

From what I’m seeing he’s built quite a name for himself, when looking up his name there is only him. I suppose a pseudonym is in order, or he simply is such an active writer. Either way I’ll look more into him as it’s definitely a breath of fresh air to find someone like him.

This, but unironically. Examining the reasons for success and for failure of revolutions is extremely important in order to prevent it from ever happening again. Fuck Allende and the Spanish Second Republic for letting fascists win.

  • Reading this made me feel so depressed. And angry. And complicit, because I was one of the clueless libs who cheered on the fall of the Berlin wall, because I didn’t know any better. Tbf I was still a kid, but the information around me framed this as a wholly good thing.

There has never been any mention of these 17 million victims where I live. No mention of Jeltsins bombing of the parliamentary building, nothing whatsoever. And here I am, in 2025 reading this and I feel so betrayed, disgusted and honestly dirty. Dirty and complicit for cheering on this crime.

The fall of the Soviet Union has been the greates tragedy of all time. The ripples of it are in the violence we now witness every day. It breaks my heart.
