Mine has night terrors.
Not nightmares, full on terrors. Screams as loud as i would expect for the worst possible situations They seem to continue after their eyes are open Not recognising we are already in the room trying go comfort.
Sometimes snaps to sort of lucid and looking at us, but not talking. Then suddenly goes back full terror mode, stops acknowledging us.
They do not recall those moments, they cannot explain what they are afraid of or what is going on after.
I suspect some form of sleepwalking is involved or Hypnagogic hallucinations.
What freaks me out is our seeming inability to help, all we can do is sit next to them with the light on and wait it out. At some point they just roll over back to sleep and its over.
Prob not what you meant op but glad to have it off my chest.
That sounds awful mate, it’s really scary and you’re in a helpless position watching it. They scream, and don’t even recognise you at first. It’s no surprise you’re freaked out by it, and I’m glad they’ve got your support
One of our kids used to do this all the time, and to guests too. It was creepy.
It really is like something from a horror movie
When our child was potty training she snuck into our room in the middle of the night and whispered “mommy, I pooped”. I never got out of bed so fast before.
Another time she was in the backyard playing and suddenly she screamed at the top of her lungs like she was dying. I ran outside in my socks and scooped her up only to find that she was freaking out over the shell of a cicada on her foot.
