The Doc would have fixed him without all that ugly suit, probably would have nagged him further into the dark side though

Worth noting that canonically, Palpatine had the suit intentionally made to be restrictive and annoying/uncomfortable so that Anakon would have to waste his power/energy using the force to help him move, and to annoy him further into the dark side.

“Make sure it always feels like he has a rock in his shoe! Bwahahahaha!”

Red Letter Media has a wonderful shitpost of a video on it.

Not exactly intentionally, it was made from random parts, he wasn’t exactly planning on having ani nearly die and have to save his life remember.

More cobbled together and made due with what he had, and of course palpatine has always lied to ani to get him to believe what he wants. So you can’t even believe that he intended that as well.

I believe it was canonized that Vader made improvements when it was required. Vader was still a technical genius and a pilot that no one rivaled.

Take his right hand for instance - he was given the first prosthetic, that he replaced during the clone wars. One of his legs in a comic gets beat to all hell, and he rips off a jedi training droid leg to replace it, which works better and is far sturdier.

But originally it was intended to be a hinderance. Anikin was a walking vergence in the force, simply by existing he made his connection to the force stronger. By sticking him in a much less technically advanced cyborg suit than what Grievous got, he could also just blast him with some lightning to weaken him physically again.

Yeah, I feel that its one of those things where people made up stuff to fit after the fact. If he was such a genius and had periods of independence as I believe its also canon that he did attempt a rebellion against Palpatine at least once then you’d expect that he could have fixed it up/improved it significantly in the years before Luke and Leia.

That’s correct, and when Palpatine found out, he was actually delighted because it was a sign that Anakin had embraced the Dark Side

I believe he also treasured his times in his barochamber, and a new suit wouldn’t need it, so that was one of his reasons for not even wanting to get a new one himself.

Yeah there’s a reason that could be a lie too. He was barely kept alive while being put it in it. And ani choose to stay in it for his own reasons as well.

Palpatine couldn’t stop him ALL the time, especially after he was gone, so that reason just falls flat when you actually follow it.

Sigh, it looks like the doctor lacks the high ground here…

Could a simple solution be to do the surgeries on a step stool?

Alright, backtrack to base program and make it optional for either program (EMH or ECH) to be able to extend/retract leg length as needed. As a doctor, this could be useful in situations where there is no operating table to extreme heights, and as an ECH, when one must tower over another.

The latter issue should resolve itself, but the former issue seems to be a persistent personality trait. 😄

Given that the doctor was becoming sentient, I wonder if he would refuse to treat the borg queen? He would no doubt have an emotional meltdown for doing so, too.
