They fuck you up, your mum and dad.
They may not mean to, but they do.
They fill you with the faults they had And add some extra, just for you.

But they were fucked up in their turn By fools in old-style hats and coats,
Who half the time were soppy-stern And half at one another’s throats.

Man hands on misery to man. It deepens like a coastal shelf. Get out as early as you can, And don’t have any kids yourself.

This Be The Verse - Philip Larkin

reminds me of how my dad would go “quit flapping” whenever I stimmed. it’s taken me a while to feel comfortable with flapping my hands again.

Thank fuck my stim is “go to a place with no one else, pace back and forth, and talk to myself” and my parents defended me doing it against my sibling’s objections. Because literally no one was harmed by me doing it.

I used to get the shit smacked out of me for it, then I started chewing on my knuckles and now I’m 38 with scarred, calloused, ugly hands and I destroy every long sleeve shirt or jacket I own in a matter of months.
We we’re born in the wrong century my friend.

In the 16th century simple disease killed you. The oppressers would carve out your eyeballs and chain your feet to the slaves behind you.

In the 24th century, robots have dominated man for centuries, and improve upon their own designs by leaps and bounds. And linux is up to 7% user rate in desktops.

My cousin (3) does this and my grandma just hits him. We all give her crap but she won’t listen. She not educated (like can’t read) and thinks she’s helping. Is there a way to help her by guiding her to a more productive path of interacting with him?

Multiple times as a teen but she’s as stubborn as she is uneducated. She actually uses to beat me with pans in response. All she did was strengthen my resolve but my cousin is clearly not a “normal” child so hitting him seems more pointless. It doesn’t even seem to bother him. The way Lil dude ignores her is actually impressive. Normal kid would cry or get angry (like me) but He has less than 0 f to give.

Which is why I’m more focused on getting her Proper ways to interact with him or reason with her.
